April 29 - May 2, 2008: Annual National Conference on Enhancing the States' Lake Management Programs, Chicago, Illinois. This year’s conference, to be held in Chicago, Illinois on April 29 - May 2, 2008 (Tuesday-Friday) is being cosponsored with the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS) and is presented in cooperation with several state and national fisheries organizations. The theme of this year's event is "Building Partnerships for Improved Fisheries and Lake Water Quality." During the conference we'll explore creative ways to enhance fisheries interactions with other lake management objectives such as water quality, recreation, and ecosystem health. Lake program staff from state and federal agencies, as well as the statewide "grassroots" lake organizations these programs serve (i.e., YOU!) -- are encouraged to attend. A special Concurrent Workshop on Thursday afternoon, "Writing to Be Read" is specifically targeted for statewide lake organization representatives. Led by acclaimed environmental writer Eleanor Ely, we'll explore creative ways to reach out to your membership and better communicate with other organizations and agencies in your state. Visit http://nalms.org/Conferences/2008Chicago for full conference program information.
