Aquatic Resource Specialist, Thurston County, Olympia, WA
This position supervises, plans, and directs the work of one or more Lake Management Districts and related surface water work in the in the performance of varied work in planning, preparing annual budgets, maintenance, and emergency response. Provides technical assistance and the implementation, of a wide range of complex environmental topics related to the management of lakes and other surface water bodies. Directs work programs as developed in cooperation with citizen steering committees. Provides staff support and recommendations to Lakes Management District and Storm and Surface Water advisory committees. Organizes and oversees the work, training, equipment, and tracking for employees, volunteers or others assisting with the lake and surface water management programs. Directly responsible for work records including time cards, material usage, work completed daily operator’s reports, and accident reports. Provides technical and administrative staffing, including long-range plan development, in support to the Thurston County Lakes Management Districts Steering Committees, or related surface water citizen advisory committees. Performs or supervises field surveys to collect data on soils, flora, fauna and other factors relevant to aquatic and shoreline vegetation management. Develops methods of evaluation for lake and other surface water resources and vegetation management programs.
