WALPA wants you!! We are not Uncle Sam, but we are a great organization that does meaningful work and provides a rewarding experience. We are currently looking for people interested in joining the WALPA Board. The Board consists of Past-President, President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, ten Directors, and an alternate Director. The President is a three-year commitment (Elect, President, and Past). All other positions require two-year commitments.
WALPA’s mission is to encourage and support programs for lake and watershed protection, restoration and management; provide educational resources and information about lake and watershed management; and foster communication and coordination among lake and watershed stakeholders. As a board we meet monthly to help guide our members in fulfilling our mission. You can attend Board meetings in person or call in to the web conference. We ask that all board members help with planning and attend our annual conference held in October.
This year we need to fill a number of positions. We are looking for nominations for President-Elect, Secretary and eight Directors. WALPA seeks regional representation and a balance of Directors representing agencies, consultants, educators and lake residents. If you are interested in running for office in 2018, or know of a great candidate, please contact any member of the Board of Directors before October. You can also email info@walpa.org to let us know you are interested or to ask questions about any of the positions.
Elections are held each year at the annual conference. This year our election will fill positions vacated at the October 2017 WALPA Conference in Spokane. Please consider joining us!
