Have some ideas about activities that WALPA should lead? Or ways to engage our members? Or even what snacks we should have at the conference? Consider joining the WALPA Board of Directors or a WALPA committee! WALPA is 100% run by volunteers and we need support from our members to be successful.
Directors serve two-year terms (renewable once) and are expected to attend monthly board meetings, as well as serve on committees that advance our mission. To meet the needs of our diverse membership, we look for broad representation across both public and private sectors, as well as academia and non-profit organizations. If you aren’t sure about a board position and just want to get your feet wet, consider joining a committee! Committee members help plan our conference, award scholarships, improve WALPA, and more. If you are interested, please email Angela Strecker (angela@walpa.org) and describe your background and general interests in a few sentences, as well as any questions you have. You are welcome to nominate others as well. Directors are voted on at the annual conference in fall; the deadline for nominations is August 15. Note that you can join a committee any time!
