WALPA Seeks New Board Members

Would you like to plan the WALPA Annual Conference? Do you have good organizational skills you’re eager to use? Or do you just love lakes? The Washington State Lake Protection Association (WALPA) is seeking lake-minded individuals to serve a two-year term on its Board of Directors. Nominate yourself or someone else you know is interested for a director or officer position. Anyone who wants to protect our state’s lakes and reservoirs is qualified.

The following positions need to be filled in 2011:

  • Seven Directors  (2 year commitment)
  • Secretary (2 year commitment)
  • President (3 year commitment as President-elect, President, and Past-President)

The WALPA Board meets every two months, in the evening, typically in Seattle. We use conference calling for those who can’t attend the meetings in person. Other duties include putting your skills to work on one of our committees (learn more here).

Board members and officers are elected by written ballot and the results announced at our annual conference, to be held this fall in Spokane in conjunction with the NALMS conference October 26 – 28. If you are interested in nominating someone or volunteering yourself, please contact Moya Joubert at (206) 233-2057 or moya.joubert@seattle.gov, or Sally Abella at sally.abella@kingcounty.gov. Nominations are due by July 27th.
