WATERLINE - June, 2014

Join us this fall in Chelan for a focus on applied limnology

WALPA-color-logoWe hope to see you September 30th – October 2nd at Campbell’s Resort in Chelan for WALPA’s 27th annual conference. This year’s theme of Applied Limnology will cover a broad range of topics sure to appeal to a wide audience. Potential session topics include:

  • Lake Chelan
  • Harmful algae blooms (HABs)
  • Nutrient management
  • Invasive aquatic species
  • Student research
  • Aquatic invertebrates
  • Volunteer monitoring
  • Fish ecology

In addition to the sessions, we will once again host a raffle and silent auction selling off a variety of donated items. Money raised by the auction will support the student scholarship fund. We will also again award a cash prize for the best student poster. We encourage all students to enter, so please let your students know about the poster contest!

The Conference Organizing Committee is busy planning sessions, organizing social events and gathering raffle donations. We will be sending out a call for abstracts shortly.

If you want to be a sponsor or donate a raffle item, have ideas for a session or general questions about the conference, contact Ellen Preece at eppreece@wsu.edu

We hope to see all of you in Chelan this fall!
